Exhibition of LEONARDO DA VINCI’s miraculous 65 models in Niš, Serbia (7. May – 14. June)

Finally, something really nice in my sleepy hometown. I visited the exhibition last Sunday and took some nice pictures. Pics are here; just click on ‘Read More’.

NIŠ – The residents of Niš, as well as all people from Serbia, have the opportunity to see an exhibition of the 65 models made according to Da Vinci’s projects in at the Gallery of the Tobacco Industry in Nis within “Phillip Morris International”. The most famous ones include models of a bicycle, a deciphering machine, a robot, a helicopter, a parachute, a cannon, …

“Sixty-five models will be exhibited in Nis, which represent the exact number of models taken from Venice for the first time. Chicago exhibited forty-five models, while in Athens only about twenty models were exhibited. We really wanted to organize an exhibition which will be the same as in Florence and this exhibition has a historic significance for Serbia. Apart from undisputable artistic value, it is also educational. Pupils and young people should see the models of the first cars, bicycles, helicopters, tanks, cruisers, cannons,… “ says Radovan – Lale Djurić, founder of the “Nis Art Fondation“ in charge of organization of the exhibition…

“The most famous Leonardo’s invention is the precursor of modern cars, the model of which was constructed in Florence, with a system of springs and wheels. It could move to the left and right and it was used in street ceremonies in Florence. Leonardo put great effort to make Perpetuum Mobile, a device which would be able to work forever. He managed to design the machine, a wheel with weights on its sides, being in motion on its own. Leonardo Da Vinci’s genius has also been confirmed by the fact that five centuries ago he managed to construct the machine for coding and decoding and similar model was used in the film “The Da Vinci Code” based on Dan Brown’s novel,” Lale Djurić says.
